Abstract

|
The lung cyst, bronchogenic cyst, being one of rare congenital cystic diseases of the lung, was reported occasionally since the first description of Nu^(¨)nez in 1634. Now, 10 cases reported here, were treated surgically and confirmed pathologically lung cysts at Yonsei University College of Medicine during the last 11 years (1956 to 1967).
Because the clinical manifestations develop after secondary changes, such as infection, inflation, rupture, congestion or hemorrhage; preoperative diagnosis of the lung cyst is difficult and it must be differentiated from lung abscess, intrathoracic tumors, cystic bronchiectasis, lobar emphysema, tension pneumothorax, secondary pneumatocele, diaphragmatic hernia, and pulmonary tuberculosis, especailly in Korea.
The mean of radical therapy for the lung cyst is surgical resection of the involved lung structure of anatomic unit.
